Richard Fred Rodewald

Richard Fred Rodewald, 63, of Middletown, Rhode Island and formerly of Du Quoin, died Sunday, July 22, 2001 at Newport Hospital in Newport, R.I.
Mr. Rodewald was born in Du Quoin on July 13, 1938, the son of the late Fred Henry and Mildred Marie (House) Rodewald. He was the husband of Priscilla (Keane) Rodewald, and they were married 21 years.
Mr. Rodewald owned and operated Rodewald's Truck Repairs on Connell Highway in Newport from 1978-1983. From 1983-1985, he was an independent truck driver. From 1985-1990, he worked as a foreman for the Newport Shipyard, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve in Middletown, chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Middletown, and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a 20-year Navy veteran and served in Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and repairing cars.
He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Keane Rodewald of Middletown, R.I.; three sons, Noel Jordan of South Attleboro, Mass., Fred Jordan of Newport, R.I., and Jon Ethan Jordan of Middletown, R.I.; five daughters, Dena Mobbs of North Attleboro, Mass., Terri Collins of Westerly, R.I., Jenny McKay of North Attleboro, Mass., Lisa Greenig of Fairfield, Iowa, and Kimberly Ackerson of Middletown, R.I.; two brothers, William Rodewald of Mattoon, Ill. and Mark Rodewald of Virginia; and five granddaughters and four grandsons. He was the brother of the late Larry Thomas Rodewald and Joyce Elaine Jordan.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, R.I. Burial with military honors was held in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, R.I.
